Drive-By Blogging

It's a quick 'n dirty post tonight, but I've finally done it.

I've cleaned my apartment. Yes, Mike and the boys were conscripted into helping, but it is clean. I think I need to get an .avi file of Zelda Rubenstein announcing that "This house is clean" and just play it over and over again.

What the hell am I going to do in two weeks when it looks like the 'before' picture?

Off to knit and watch Dexter...

THREE. MORE. DAYS.

Three more days, my friends. Three more days. If I could giggle and jump up and down, I would, but that may draw looks from my co-workers. Or maybe they'd just think I had more coffee than normal. But I digress - THREE. MORE. DAYS.

In the meantime, I read a great interview with my chick-crush, Katee Sackhoff, here. I love that one of the first questions is addressed to all the folks who were staunchly against the idea of Starbuck being a woman. I hang my head in shame, as I was, indeed, one of those haters. I hope I've redeemed myself.

To soothe myself during these days of BSG countdown, I've been enjoying the new episodes (finally!) of Reaper (CW, please renew this show) and the amazing John Adams miniseries on HBO. I was just telling Linda that I've had the McCullough book on which the miniseries is based for an age, and one of these days, I've got to just sit down and dig in. If you haven't had a chance to watch the show, I really urge you to. Paul Giamatti cannot do any wrong in his choice of acting roles, and the interplay between his John and Laura Linney's Abigail Adams is incredibly well done.

I also caught the Season 2 premiere of The Tudors, which set a lot of storylines into play. It's going to be a good season - already, Catherine of Aragon has been ousted from the castle, we've seen a poor kitchenhand boiled in oil (Boleyn, I can't wait for you to get what's coming to you), and had the Pope move to excommunicate the King. Is history altered? Of course it is; it's television. But is it compelling to watch? Hell, yes. And considering that Queen Elizabeth is born this season and Anne will likely lose her head (will they save that for the season finale?), we've got a good season in front of us.

For my sci-fi jonesing, I've started to finally catch up on the latest incarnation of Dr. Who and its spin-off, Torchwood. I've grown up with Dr. Who, so the newer ones are easily watchable, having some idea of what's going on. I like David Tennant as the "new Who", and the couple of episodes I've seen so far are good. Since I'm starting in the middle of Torchwood, I think I need a little more time to figure stuff out. The first episode I watched has a doctor coming back from the dead but who's not alive - not a zombie, just not alive. He walks, he talks, but he's got no pulse, no heartbeat, and, as he finds out when he tries to revive someone using mouth-to-mouth rescussitation, no breath. Wounds don't heal. So again, interesting television but I need to place myself more into the middle of what's going on before I can say whether or not I love the show.

Wow, I completely geeked out for a while. It feels good. :)

Digging Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles?

Have you checked out the new Terminator TV show? I admit to being highly skeptical when I first heard about it. To paraphrase Stacey's comment on it, haven't we been to the well a few too many times on this one? Hell, I haven't even seen T3 yet.
After watching the first two episodes, though, I've got to admit - I think it's got some promise. Granted, they've created at least two new timelines within the first two episodes, but hey - Star Trek gave us new anomalies that buggered up the timestream constantly, right? Anyone remember the whole Tasha Yar business? But it was good television, and it's fantasy, folks. It's all about possibilities.
So when I heard that someone sat down and tried to untangle the yarn barf that seems to have been created with the latest Terminator offering, I had to check it out. And it makes a lot of sense. Todd Seavey, you rock. After reading this article, a lot of things are more clear - and I think I may even sit down and watch T3 after all. I'll just make sure I have a good knitting project in hand, just in case.

What Does It Mean, What Does It Mean??

PopCandy is on the case again, with the scoop on an EW article that provides a pic of the BSG cast in a DaVinci-inspired pic fraught with information - we just have to figure it out.
I will commence whining like my 4-year old. I don't WANNA wait until April 4th! I wanna watch BATTLESTAR GALACTICA NOOOOOW!!!!!!!
I am stomping my feet and slamming the door to my room, vowing never to speak to Ron Moore again.

To My Fellow Office-Fans Out There...

Gotta give a shout-out to the Snarkwife on this one. You know I immediately Googled "SchruteBuck" this morning, and her site came up. You ROCK, my friend. Now, if someone would just create a Stanley Nickel, I'd be thrilled.
It's gotten bad... just foraged and snarfed down some M&Ms left over from Valentine's Day. Anyone who knows me knows that unless they're peanut M&Ms, I don't bother. But I bothered. Grocery shopping this weekend, and I can finally get some healthy snacks back in the house. Gar!
I'm cleaning out closets today. Bleah. Gotta start getting rid of so much, I haven't done a proper spring cleaning in too long. Maybe if I feel better about dumping all the 'baggage', literally and figuratively, I'll get the reboot that I need.
I need to get back on track and get back to feeling good and taking care of myself. I'm tired of vacillating between self-destruct and barely maintaining. I've made such a major decision and it's taken so much crap off my shoulders, I guess I thought everything else would magically fall into place. But nothing really does that magically, does it? You have to work for everything you want. So now I just have to start working. Even if it's slow progress, it's progress.
And I really have to stop this mindset of eating all the crap in the house assures it won't be there to tempt me. Don't know how I fell into that trap, but it's got me. Yeesh.
