Oh God, I remember that stairwell, you're right, it is crazy steep! I love that city! Everyone is so nice and laid back, the food is wicked, and they know how to have a good time.
Those stairwells are out of control! The ones that are made of cobblestone? Holy crap! We went down after a sunshower and were holding on for our dear lives!!
What a great city. I can't wait to go back. Oh, and Velvet Elvis' building still stands, but it's a bar called The Jinx (if memory serves correctly) now. As I walked by, I distinctly heard the Duran song, "Night Runner," playing. I smiled.
