Stockholm meets New York!

My friend Helene is coming in; she should be arriving in a few hours, actually. I haven't seen her since my wedding day, which is completely nuts. It's going to be a blast having her here all week. I'm going to see what her schedule looks like (she's got sightseeing to do, and brought her friend with her, who I think is on her maiden voyage to The Big Apple, let alone the fact that my family will most likely swarm her like a bunch of excited bees) on the weekend, and hopefully get everyone to meet her on Saturday evening.

Now I just have to get back to Stockholm, which is one my favorite places in the world (at least, the world I've seen so far). Gamla Stan is the greatest place to visit if you're a medieval history buff, and it's been far too long since I've dragged Gab down the narrow streets in search of a nice, hot cup of hot chocolate and a drafty castle basement. And don't get me started on the chocolate.

Fun! How do you know her?

It's a long and fun story. I worked at the Ford Agency when I was in high school;' one of my jobs was handling the fan mail for models.

Her letter arrived for a model that, at the time, was dating John Taylor (yes, everything in my life can relate back to Duran Duran). If a 16-year old girl was writing to this model, there was a good chance she 1) was a Duran fan, and 2) was a John fan.

So I wrote her a letter, sent her a LOT of stuff - posters, books, you name it - and we've been friends ever since. :-) She's a month to the day older than I am, saw Duran live for the first time the same year I did, and we both had a healthy appreciation for John. I've been to Stockholm twice, she's been here four times now (I owe her two trips!) and she was part of my wedding party.

How's it going with Helene? You guys have been buds for a long time now. It's nice that you have a close friend overseas. I love the photo, btw, did you take it?

I only wish I were that good a shot! I got it from a Stockholm visitor's site. :-)

Helene is great, had dinner with her on Wednesday night; couldn't see her last night because Will was getting an award (Student of the Month for March!) at school, but tonight we're going out. Take this as an open invite to join us either tonight or tomorrow evening.

Hey,

That's awesome about Will getting Student of the Month! I just now got back from my second baby shower in a week, and I have to go to another in a month...

I swear our generation is experiencing our own baby boom.
